a party jar was established

Secretary's report: the minutes of meeting 944 were accepted as 'who
looks at a burger joint and says that needs a little more sonic?'

Treasurer's report was that last week we took in $26.25 in the regular
jar and $4.00 in the party jar - and that 2 weeks ago we took in
$54.21 in the regular jar and $27.75 in the party jar

no VP


The President commented that there is an interview with Terry
Pratchett's daughter in EGM, as she's involved in writing the plots
and dialogue for video games

Party Committee questions will be fielded by Stellan who will be
chanelling Ed for a time

A motion to passed to recommend to Ed that Stellan be appointed the
vice chair of the Party committee


Announcements
Ken announced that his mini's wind-screen was broken by hurled rock
this last week

Julie announced that a silent film actress died - but that Mickey
Rooney is still alive

Lynn announced that she broke her jaw last month [she looks much
better now] but she's still avoiding crunchy foods

Cheryl announced that there's a launch party for Stephenson's 'Anthem'
tomorrow at 1320 Sutter, SF & she'll be in New Orleans next week and
then back to England

Lisa announced that 'big Harold' is out of the hospital again and the
Kaiser Santa Clara food sucks but the care is good

Joe mentioned he's still looking for his sunglasses

Howeird announced that the UN has started a text message for peace
initiative on Sept 2


Reviews:
Joni reviewed a web-comic 'ask Dr. Eldritch' as enjoyable, that it has
a newsletter and offers good advice for world conquest - and worth
donation

Dave C reviewed ConXtreme a week later as the con computers ended up
spamming his email account

Lynn reviewed worker's comp insurance as it frightens her and THIS is
the reformed version - and she reviewed a dog funeral as thank god the
dog was covered

Julie reviewed a Martinez production of 'Little Shop of Horrors' as
they sang on key, had excellent sets and costumes and was well worth
full price [there were follow-ons]

Frank reviewed Burning Man as dusty but he had a great time

Ken then announced that Dr Who will be shown on Fridays at 11pm on
KTEH and Cinema Insomnia was cancelled from their schedule

Joe reviewed 'Kushiel's Chosen' as he really enjoyed it

we then did auctions:   birthday auctioned off Lynn Gold for $3.00 to
Lisa [& Lynn mentioned she'll be going to ConChord this weekend in
Woodland Hills]; then auctioned off various stuff for $1.50; a folding
box for $1.50; pillow & tshirt for $2.25; other misc stuff for $0.25;
& videos and glowy bracelets for $0.25

We adjourned at = 9:10

And the rumor of the week was: 'text messaging for world domination'
