Thanks for sending us this sad news. Since my father, Rusty Hevelin,
doesn't have email, I called him over the weekend to pass this
information on to him. He had already heard, but I was able to give
him more info, which was contained in the obituary which I found via
the link in Carole's earlier message.
Dad introduced me to Forry at a con in San Jose several years ago. I
don't think it was a WorldCon, I think it was one of the very few
Pulpcons my father ran outside of Ohio. I have always wanted to visit
the Ackermansion, or the more recent Acker Mini-Mansion, but I never
did. I will always regret that, especially since I have been in the
Los Angeles area a number of times in the last eight or ten years.
It's my own fault I didn't make more of an effort to take a tour.
As of this past Denvention, Forry, Bob Madle, Art Widner, and my
father were four of the five or six known living attendees of
Denvention 1, back in 1941. I understand that Dad and Art Widner made
it to Denvention 3, but Bob Madle and Forry did not.
Forry will be greatly missed. Thanks again for the info and the link.

If it wasn't for Forrey, we wouldn't have hall costumes, masquerades,
or, probably, even Costume-Con. We shouldn't forget him or his
contributions to fandom.
Until later--
Carole
