Sounds like they are using Pulfrich 3D effect glasses again. You can get the same effect by popping out the glass in one eye of a cheap pair of sunglasses. The system sort of works. Doctor Who used this in the charity short "Dimensions in Time" which aired sometime I think in the 1980s, the last time this fad happened.

Anyway a simple search on Pulfrich shows a number of suppliers of said glasses. As to getting them online before the mess happens I suspect it is too late. I still have a pair from 20 years ago or so. They do make a lot of TV look 3D although the effect gets tiresome after a while. Dilating one eye and not the other, tends to cause headaches in most people.
