Well as a writer I would like to be able to let people know of SF
publications I have. I do not see a problem if you are telling me about your
publication or CJ Cherryh's, it's not like we are advertising Shamwows. So my
vote is yes, so long as the material is SF/fantasy related.

Kind regards

Really? Did you poll the membership before you started sending
self-promotional email to the list?

Best,

Glenn

so in all fairness to the membership, I will do what Glenn did not:

Ask what you think.

I've gotten a few emails from people who wanted to know more details than
my fatigued brain remembered to put in, which is the only reason I sent
multiple postings. Normally I am not a Bloody Viking. I apologize for the
repeat
postings.

I do note in passing that I am unaware of any objections to other members
seeking gainful employment via this mailing list-- which is what I did too.

Subject: Re: [Basfa] Author reading/signing at B & N

Tact is not one of my great talents, but let me try to make a

suggestion. First, by way of motivation, I should like to point out

that by signing up for the BASFA list, I do not feel that I have signed

up for the Matthew Joseph Harrington announcement list. To be truthful,

I consider your messages more than a little spam-like.

With that in mind, I would like to suggest that you get your own mailing

list. Once you do that, I don't anyone would complain if you sent an

email to the BASFA list saying "Here's how to subscribe to my new

announcement list...". From then on, your announcements would only go

to those that want them without irritating (and I know I am not the only

BASFAn irritated by this) those that don't.

Best,

Glenn

Please excuse the brain fart. The reading of String, from Man-Kzin Wars
XII, will occur at 3 PM, Saturday, June 6, at Barnes & Noble, in the Pruneyard,
at the corner of Campbell and Bascom, in Campbell, California, USA. Anyone
who has a book signed will get additional material: annotations of my
stories so far, details of how they developed, and general inside info.
