For fans of the Cabaret’s successful Evil Dead: the Musical, Chainsaw won’t disappoint. Penned by Cory Bytof and Christopher t. Minori, Chainsaw finds all the fun, frivolity, and body parts you remember from one of the most famous horror films ever made. Complete with blood, guts and gore…and the return of the Splatter Zone! The “Splatter Zone”? The Willows Cabaret production of Evil Dead used 50 gallons of stage blood per performance, much of it cascading into the front row of the audience. People paid extra to sit there, and the “Zone” was sold out nearly every night. The Zone will return for Chainsaw, and plastic ponchos and white T-shirts will once more be available in the lobby. Warning: Just like Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw is NOT suitable for children. Contains “inappropriate” language, buckets of blood and gore, and multiple mad serial killers. The Texas Chainsaw Musical recently had a workshop production at the San Francisco Fringe Festival. Here’s what audience members had to say: What a great show! The energy of the cast was astounding, the music was complex and edgy, the acting was solid. Nick Bayne, the lead, was adorable and terrifying, with seriously talented vocals. Carlye Pollack rocked it as Lucretia, bringing a fun New York style to the show. Other favorites were "Let's Hear You Scream," a silly duet between Eddy (Nick Bayne) and Melissa (Miquela Sierra) - beautiful harmony and hilarious delivery. I also loved the ventriloquist scene with Dale Murphy's classic comedic timing. But I'm rambling! It was a great show overall, and I'm looking forward to sitting in the "Splatter Zone" for their Willows Theatre production! ________________________________ Five of us went and it was unanimous - great show, wonderful actors, laughed 'till we hurt ourselves! ________________________________ Fabulously funny, edgy, totally sick!! Great acting and singing. You gotta see this ________________________________ A funny take on serial killers! The musical numbers were great, and the actors were amazing. This play is indeed pretty gross, due to its subject matter, but fans of dark humor and horror comedy will definitely dig this! ________________________________ Well - this musical delivered BIG TIME. I loved it. The songs/music are terrific and the cast is fabulous, versatile and funny! I can't wait to go see it again. I want the soundtrack! I'm only humming bits and pieces (no pun intended) of what I remember of some of the songs and NEED MORE!! ________________________________ Fantastic show! While I think it will be very enhanced when they are allowed to use full blood effects, the whole thing was very entertaining and, at times, surprisingly touching in a perverse way. The whole ensemble is very good. I couldn't help but enjoy myself the whole time! ________________________________ Great funky idea. Actors and music were great ________________________________ The choreography and stage direction for this shoestring budget production was smooth as silk, especially for a group performing together publicly for the first time last night to workshop this up-and-coming new musical. Chris Minori's script delivered laughs and the actors demonstrated an impressive ability to die on command. But the real gem of "The Texas Chainsaw Musical" is Cory Bytof's melodic, flat-out brilliant songwriting - which brought unexpected poignancy to a comedy about chainsaw murdering. ________________________________ A delightful workshop production of an up-and-coming play. There are still some bits here and there that could use some tweaking, but they are taking comments and recommendations from audience members throughout the run at Fringe Fest…bursts into a blaze of bloody glory with Eddy's first song. Eddy and Lucretia really steal the show as the most convincing musical psychopaths I hope to ever meet. Musically, it is a mixture of tongue-in-cheek broadway-esque songs about death, love, and Texas. You know it won't end well for at least half of the characters that waltz across the stage, but you just can't help but yelp, grin, and hum along to the buzz of the chainsaw. ________________________________ Great Show!! Funny and scary and perversely moving all at the same time. Brilliant writing and terrific performances. I was humming the songs on my way home. Go see this play! ________________________________ Funny, unique, great music, and a chainsaw to boot. Who know serial killers and their victims could be so entertaining?? Don't miss this one! ________________________________ ________________________________ This e-mail was sent from Willows Theatre Company Immediate removal with PatronMail® SecureUnsubscribe.
