category for the Oscar was determined by preferential ballot this year.
Kevin R. announced that Yipe 2.3 will go live at yipezine.com April and they
are still accepting steampunk contributions for the next issue.
Andy reminded everyone the new Doctor Who is coming will be showing live at
Wondercon Saturday night on BBC Worldwide.
Mo says Wendy Pini will be at Wondercon and Fanimé for Masque of the Red Death.
Lisa said Big Harold broke his ankle and is at a rehabilitation center.
She also finished the Doctor Who scarf she was making for
Spring. (It looks dynamite.)
Reviews:
Andy reviewed the Swedish, subtitled movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as
a nasty little flick. It’s definitely not a date movie. It makes Silence of
the Lambs look like Frolic with the Lambs. The progression is unpredictable
and it’s definitely worth full price. Howeird followed on that reading the
book before the movie could ruin the movie. Andy disagreed.
Carol went to the Imperial Royal Lion Monarchy (IRLM) coronation where Kevin R.
sang the Canadian national anthem. He gave a respectable performance and the
costumes were great.
Mo did art show for Contact and had a great time. There were several pieces
art—mostly Mo’s. She said it was worth full price. Fred set up snack area.
He said the programming was great with good variety. Howeird was amazed at
range and quality of presentations. Dave G. enjoyed what he saw of it, but it
needed better organization. There was a lack of student involvement.
Dave C. read Water Room, by Christopher Fowler. It’s a murder taking place in
London. It’s a fun read.
Ken said Psychotronic Film Festival was really good. Mo followed on that it’s
worth full price.
We did auctions.
Rumor of the Week:
“Meaning can be made without underpants.”
We adjourned 9:08 p.m.
