furry fandom fame[, visiting us here for the 1st time

Announcements:
Chris announced that local authoress, Gail Carriger, is nominated for a
Campbell award & she announced that 'Tiny Prints' is starting a new line of
customized greeting cards - at a special rate if you sign up for them now

Adrienne announced that Hugo nominations are out - and there are BASFA-ians
in the nominations - & there were follow-on's

Glenn announced that conventions exist

Reviews:
Dave G reviewed Norwescon [around 3500 attendees] as similar to Baycon in
some respects, and that troubles with the Doubletree chain is endemic to the
chain - plus that he, Dave C & Spring each had a different day of possible
food poisoning there; that the Match Game went well, it didn't -seem- like a
crowded con and all in all it was an enjoyable time, well worth the trip;
Glenn follow-on'd that a Westercon membership was a Match game prize

Glenn reviewed 'a sf-nal weekend' in which he spent time in Second Life,
partificpating in Cheryl's virtual panel at Eastercon

Spike reviewed Wondercon as fun, even if she wasn't up on all of the fandoms
represented there; there were follow-on's that the autograph tables needed a
better system, but it sounded like a pleasant chaos; Andy commented about
the 'attractive nuisance theory' of line [mis]management; Mo reviewed that
the times were bad but she thought the con was great; Lisa opined that the
venue was reaching its maximum capacity and Saturday was over-stuffed,
[evil] Kevin and Andy braved the crowds and made it halfway across Dealer's
before his [Kevin's] 'brain gave out'

Andy reviewed the '11th Hour' as a worthy start to the new series and worth
stealing; and also reviewed the book of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' as
you can read it before seeing the movie and the movie won't be spoiled, as a
good read and easier to get into than the movie, worth full price

Ken reviewed 'his' new ipad as shiny; Mo drew a picture on it [with turtles]
& Ken likes that it has color, it is fun to play with and Mo would like it
to have a larger screen

Adrienne reviewed Psycho Donuts as interesting and creative but too sweet;
Mo follow-on'd that she recommends the Key Lime and that it has local art in
the shop; then Adrienne reviewed 2 episodes of 'Sparticus' as [suggestive],
in need of more male nudity and wondered if they were acting

Jo reviewed Vegas as windy and he learned a trick

we did auctions: birthday auctioned off Chris for $6.00 to me; birthday
auctioned off Jo for $5.00 to Jo; then auctioned off a book for $1.00,
videos for $0.25, $0.25;  candy for $1.10; $0.25, $0.50;  CDs for $5.00;
cupcakes for $2.00;  magazines for $2.25, $1.00;  a DVD for $2.25;  games
for $2.50, and PCMCIA cards for $2.00

We adjourned at = 9:50

And the rumor of the week was: 'All your Jackie Chan belong us'
