Trey Haddad, President Chris Garcia, Vice-President Dave Gallaher, Treasurer Galen Tripp, Sargeant at Arms Barbara Johnson-Haddad, Secretary held at Coco's, 1206 Oakmead Parkway (Lawrence Expressway/101 fwy), Sunnyvale Began at 7:53 29 people attended Secretary’s report: the minutes from meeting 1040 were accepted as 'EZ' the Treasurer reported that at meeting 1040 we took in $43.02 in the regular jar and $10.00 in the party jar - and he has received receipts from the Party Committee and is working on them now the Vice President was not here due to ennui The President alerted the club that he and the secretary will be absent for the July 27 meeting Announcements: [tall] Kevin announced that he will be in Oregon for the next 3 weeks & announced that he had coupons to give away & announced that Westercon pre-supporters have till the end of the month to covert to attending at a $15 discount AND announced that Cheryl has started a publishing imprint = Wizard's Tower Press to publish out of print works and a magazine = 'Salon Futura' for reviews and is accepting start up funds; check [email protected] or visit the website at http://wizardstowerpress.com Dave C announced that ConXtreme is coming up . . .some day . . . because they have a website up & announced that Disneyland Hotel is renovating Michael announced that he has contact info for George Barr; check http://wellofdreams.com/thingamajig/home.htm Lisa announced that she has the roving Westercon 64 registration bag with her today Andy announced that Aug 13-15 is the Golden State Gay Rodeo Assoc Bay Area Chapter Rodeo & that he & [evil] Kevin are sponsoring award buckles for events - and that this year there is camping Ken announced that the US national women's cricket team beat Canada 3-0 last week Julie announced that nothing happened Spike announced that Potlatch 20 will be March 4-6, 2011 Reviews: Josh reviewed 'Inception' as worth seeing on Imax and worth the extra cost, worth full price, very entertaining; Andy enjoyed it and thought it a pretty good little flick Dave C reviewed 'Sorcerers Apprentice' as he -wanted- to like it, but the beginning was disappointing and it went on from there - and had the world's worst cookie at the end; then reviewed 'Micmacs' as quirky, in French with subtitles and worth full price Julie reviewed the Willow's 'Avenue Q' production as very good and worth full price & reviewed a 'lost' Dr Who episode she viewed, the Daleks master Plan, as confusing since only 3 of the 12 episodes remain but she's glad some of it was preserved & then reviewed the DVD boxed set for 'Carousel' as worth getting I reviewed 'The Last Airbender' as my spleen could have done a better script and that there ARE bad movies that are worth watching for their humor value but THIS film is not one of them - avoid this film!; Trey follow-on'd that he is the companion of a survivor of seeing 'Last Airbender'; Mike follow-on'd that he saw a sneak premeire with fans of the anime who jeered the film and wanted to burn the screen Ken reviewed the Dark Shadows con in Burbank as a low-key production with 1 track of programming and many of the old stars present, while Burbank was very warm - all in all he had a fun time Stellan reviewed 'Despicable Me' as he thought it was very cute and has forgotten the plot by now - worth full price - and he had a perfect day sailing on the Bay Ed reviewed 'Inception' as he really enjoyed it, he thought 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' was cute, finally saw 'Bend it like Beckham' and enjoyed it & reviewed 'Predators' as good, like the others in the series <<then they kept doing reviews while I went to the loo.>> we auctioned off books for $0.20, $0.10 & $0.25, & a poster for $1.00 We adjourned at = 9:27 And the rumor of the week was: 'the heat death of the universe will be delayed for one more movie review' -- ******************* She/whispered/'Oh/my/goodness/what/are/all/these/squirrels/doing/here?'
