Dave's third announcement was that on Feb. 2, there will be "A Conversation with Michael Chambon & Junot Diaz" at the Berkeley High School Little Theatre. Reviews: I reviewed the HBO baseball movie Soul of the Game, which was about the racial integration of the major leagues, as worth the time to watch. The Penny Marshall movie, A League of Their Own, still holds up well, too. Dave C. has been watching You Have Been Watching on You Tube, particularly singling out the episode that reviewed Children of Earth and the news coverage of Michael Jackson's death with background music from Experiment in Terror. Worth full price. Jo thought The Hobbit in 3D was intense. He liked it. He also thought another 3D production, Cirque de Soliel's Worlds Away, was just a filming of their acts, but it was visually beautiful. He later added that C.J. Cherryh's sequel novel, Regenisis, is very well done. Diane read Folly of the World by Jesse Bullington and said it was weird and engrossing and set in Holland. Andy is watching a Danish TV series that translates to The Killing and highly recommends it. He's interested in seeing more Danish TV. Josh thought Les Miserables was fantastic, but hates Dutch angles. He also said the game Ascension is okay, but he no longer likes deck building games. His last review was on the book A Plague on Both Your Houses, by Susannah Gregory. It's the first of the Matthew Bartholomew historical mystery series and is worth full price. Jerry, Ken, Diane and Chris agreed that DoubleClicks gave an excellent show in a comic shop and is going on tour. J.C. said Dixit is an excellent game that is tons of fun. He also recommends Zombie Dice. Chris said Jango Unchained is the ballsiest movie ever made. He read Earth Girl by Janet Edwards. He said it's a weird Sweet Valley High hard SF story. He has also seen Portlandia and loves Kyle McLaughlin as the mayor. It's weirdness, but a lot of fun. Rumor of the Week: Suddenly, a thought rang out. We adjourned around 9:30 p.m.
