The Locus Recommended Reading List has a good selection of YA novels. The two I
helped get on the list are:

The Woken Gods, Gwenda Bond (Strange Chemistry US; Strange Chemistry UK)
Mortal Fire, Elizabeth Knox (Foster)

I have also heard very good things about these three:

Zombie Baseball Beatdown,Paolo Bacigalupi (Little, Brown)
Burning Sky, Sherry Thomas (Balzer + Bray)
More Than This, Patrick Ness (Candlewick; Walker)

The Cat Valente book will be wonderful too, but it is the third (or maybe
fourth) book in a series and unless you have read the others it might not be
worth trying it.

Love 'n' hugs,

Cheryl
