Hello All: After work this morning, I went to check on Maurine Starkey. She's now in Building M, Fourth Floor, Room 97A, in the Transitional Care Neurosurgery Unit (TCNU) at Santa Clara County Valley Medical Center. Here's what I learned from her nurse, who could only say so much, because I'm not a direct family member: (1) She's got an abdominal bleed, the severity of which her doctor hasn't determined yet. She does have a pool inside, however. We don't know if the situation will require surgery or whatever else. This, of course, is in addition to the back pain that originally caused her to go into Emergency. (2) On top of that, she's picked up an infection, type still unknown, and the doctor is working to explore that development while giving her antibiotics. (3) She's more cognizant of her surroundings today. She was able to communicate with me, but she really had to concentrate, going in and out of consciousness, and in and out of coherency when conscious. Keep her in your thoughts, folks.
