minutes for 1279 were accepted as "Why are these minutes different from
any other minutes?"
 
A proxy for the treasurer
said at meeting 1279 we collected $1.25 in the regular jar and $32.00 in the
special jar.
 
A proxy quoted the VP,
"I got married! …And there's no new Drink
Tank out."
 
The President wasn't
there to say he had nothing fannish to report.
 
Sports committee still
has tix available for our annual San Francisco Giants game outing on
May 8.
 
A new member, Thomas,
introduced himself and said he learned about BASFA at the Meet & Greet at
Further Confusion 2015.
 
 
Announcements:
 
Alex said that the San
Jose Symphony will be doing Fantasia:
Live in Concert this week. In the spring the symphony will also be doing
concerts of the Lord of the Rings music. For more details, go to:

Lisa said Convolution is
looking for volunteers to fill some staff vacancies. Christine D. confirmed
they're looking to fill a few key staff positions as well. JC added that they
were looking for GoH suggestions and confirmed that the governing corporation
is going to register as non-profit.
 
JohnO and ChrisO
announced they will be attending Gallifrey One 2015 this weekend, as will
several other BASFA members, many who were not attending this meeting in order
to prepare for it.
     JohnO added that AMC is offering an Oscar Showcase this weekend.
These are basically little film festivals where AMC shows all the Best Picture
nominees in either one or two days (the punter's choice). Three theaters will
be offering them in the Bay Area, including Cupertino Square (aka Valco),
Mercado, and Van Ness in San Francisco. For more details, please go to:

Chuck gave us an update
on Mo's medical treatment. She's getting better, but it's slow going.
 
Steve got his ham radio
license.
 
 
Reviews:
 
Fred went to Potlatch 23
in Seattle last weekend. The Book of Honor was the June 2014 issue of 
Lightspeed and he recommends the short
story, "Dim Sum." He had a good time.
 
JC reviewed Chris and
Vanessa's wedding as lots of fun with loads of food.
 
We skipped auctions to
allow time to work on the BASFA Hugo Recommendations.
