The reading of the
minutes for 1282 were accepted as "Red."

There was no Treasurer's
report.

There was no VP to report
that there is no new Drink Tank out.

The President's report
was usurped with the speculation that the absent officers were in contempt of
something.

We thought we had a new
visitor present, but he said he was an old visitor. We apologize for pointing
to the old visitor who never gave his name.

Announcements:

Lisa said that Consonance
2015 will be at the Crown Plaza Silicon Valley in Milpitas this weekend. For
more details, please go to: http://consonance.bostoncalifornia.com/

Dave C. said that Fogcon
2015 will also be this weekend at the Walnut Creek Marriott. For more details,
please go to: http://fogcon.org/
He also reminded everyone that Norwescon 38 will be Easter
weekend. This is where the announcement of this year's Hugo nominations are
going to originate on Saturday, April 4. For more details on Norwescon, please
go to: http://www.norwescon.org/

Brad said a letter John
Campbell wrote to Brad when he was a freshman in high school was published in a
volume of Campbell's letters.
Brad also reported that Larry Niven has been named a grand
master by SFWA.

Gerry N. sold a story to
a mainstream market, which he hasn't done before. The Sunnyvale Public Library
is putting together an anthology of short stories by local writers and they
accepted his genre work. It will be an e-book publication.

I gave an update on Mo's
improving health. The doctors were talking about both surgery and discharge and
trying to decide the best course of action for her.

Gayle found an error on
the Hugo nominating page: "You may nominate for the 2015 Hugo
Awards and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer if, on or before January
31, 2015, 11:59 pm PST (7:59 am GMT on February 1, 2014):"

The death of Leonard
Nimoy was old news to everyone present, but someone announced that a t-shirt in
his memory was created to benefit the Challenger Center. For more details on
that, please go to:

Reviews:

Josh toured the Armory in
San Francisco and believes it is worth full price. For more details, go to:
http://www.armorystudios.com/

Valerie went to Boskone
52 where she was thrilled to meet Jane Yolen. She f the snow in Boston first
hand and said half the people there deserted Boskone on Saturday to avoid the
oncoming
storm. Those remaining enjoyed themselves.
She then went to New York to do some research.
She went to a gaming convention in New Jersey and found it
wasn't worth getting a dealer's table. It was a pleasant trip to the East Coast
regardless.

Brad went to the
Sacramento Comic Con, where the majority of attendees were under 25. It was
smaller than San Diego Comic Con and only one day, but it had free parking. It
was worth the trip.

Ken and Jerry saw Spamalot at Bellermine for a bargain
rate and had a good time. Well worth its price.

Howeird went to see Chris
G.'s short films at Cinequest. A few of the stories stuck with Howeird and he
highly recommends the animated series.

Gerry N. followed on his
own review of Nancy Kress's novella, "Yesterday's Kin," last week, saying
he felt validated when it was announced it is a finalist on this year's Nebula
ballot.

Yocannon said he likes
the TV series 12 Monkeys and gives it
a B.
He also loved the Oscar-nominated Song of the Sea and Big Hero
6 (the latter won). He enjoyed watching the bundled Oscar-nominated short
films at the Blue Light Cinemas. I followed that I found out the short film
nominations were also available through On Demand via U-verse. The animated
films are usually padded with some honorable mention pieces to make it feature
length.

We did auctions.

Rumor of the Week:

"Live long and
prosper."

We adjourned 9:08 p.m.
