The Vice President is threatening to take over the world
with Twitter and putting together a fear issue of the Drink Tank.
Sports committee is still planning a group outing on April
25th for a San Francisco Giants game.
New members John Salinas, Gary Reuben and James Brand
introduced themselves.
Vice President announced that Hugo Award Winner Bob Stewart
passed away in addition to Harold Ramis.
Announcements:
I announced that Chris
Garcia will be a special guest for a Bay Area Ghost Hunters meetup on March 22
at the Flames Coffee Shop on Winchester.
JC said that a new
episode of NerdVana Podcast will be
posted on Wednesday.
Lisa said that Ken and
Jerry are on their way home from Hong Kong.
Bill said that Consonance
is going to happen.
Ric without a k reported
that Abe Vigoda is still alive.
Ric also said that Netflix also has the fifth season of Breaking Bad
available.
He also said something about Love
in the Time of Monsters, Eternity, Cheating and Cinequest.
Andy said that Swedish
shows decided to limit streaming to Sweden.
Reviews:
Stacy said Paracon on the USS Hornet was wonderful.
Dave G. said Capricon is
a wonderful little convention in Chicagoland. Lots of good parties.
Dave G. also started the
reviews of Gallifrey One 2014. He didn't see a lot of it because he was helping
out Spring at her table. It had its issues.
Andy enjoyed meeting Paul McGann and said the timing for buying
memberships changed to March 21.
Kevin R. thought the generations meshed much better at Gally.
Diane had so much fun at Gally. She didn't want to spend
something.
Dave G. also opened the
reviews for Potlatch 23. He recommended it.
Tom thanked BASFA for its support.
Diane and Bill enjoyed it and thought the con suite was
excellent.
Mo enjoyed talking about history and books there.
Chris G. though Potlatch was something I missed noting.
I reviewed Swift Justice, by Harry Farrell, which
is about Hart Lynching that took place in San Jose in 1933. I was really
impressed by the author's research and the detail it provided.
I also saw the bundled Oscar-nominated short films that I
thought they were worth seeing.
Mo has been watching Armed and Dangerous and said it's
bizarre and sponsored by Chipotle. She recommends it.
Andy said Bad Ass Spider actually turned into a
good movie.
Bill said he and Carole
went to Cirque de Soliel and had a good time. Ric followed on that this
performance was second only to its Beatles tribute.
Bill also read Enchantment
Emporium, by Tanya Huff, and said it was very enjoyable.
Chris G. recommends Friended to Death and is the funniest
something at Cinequest.
JC saw Justice League War and it is probably
not his favorite. He's not a fan of the animation style. Jason followed on it
had some great character moments. Chris G. thought a lot of it was good—except
for Superman.
We did auctions.
Rumor of the Week:
"Clock bracelet: if
you take one letter out, you have jewelry for men."
We adjourned 9:29 p.m._______________________________________________
