Greetings, Fellow BASFA Members,
A while back I announced that The Heinlein Society was raising money to pay for
a bust of Robert A. Heinlein since he was selected by his home state of
Missouri to be honored as a Famous Missourian with a bust in the state capitol.
By state law, the cost for this bust must be paid by non-state funds. So
below is the latest development, I hope BASFA can proudly be represented in
this project.

Heinlein Prize Trust Announces Matching for Hall of Famous Missourians

The Heinlein Prize Trust (www.heinleinprize.com) has agreed to partner with THS
in the fundraising for the new Robert A. Heinlein bust to be displayed in the
Missouri state capitol’s “Hall of Famous Missourians”. HPT has pledged to
match dollar for dollar contributions made by “Heinlein’s Children” to raise
the necessary funds for the bust and associated plaque, pedestal, and ceremony.
THS’s board had previously set a fundraising goal of $14,000 for this effort.
With HPT’s generous pledge, this means that the fans of Robert A. Heinlein need
to contribute $7,000, which with HPT’s matching funds will achieve the $14,000
total.
Please make donations to this worthy cause by using the Paypal buttons at our
site and designating “Hall of Famous Missourians”, or send a check payable to
The Heinlein Society at 3553 Atlantic Avenue, #341, Long Beach, CA 90807-5606.
All donations pledged for this cause will only be used for this purpose, and
THS has previously announced they will meet the goal or return all funds to
donors by December 31, 2016.
