Chris Duval saw Ex Machina and enjoyed it. It'sdefinitely worth matinée prices.
Since he won't be back for a while, he gave a review on his
unfinishedreading of The Abolition of Species,by Dietmar Dath, starts out
strange. Gayle read the Hugo-nominatedshort stories and supports "Totaled," by
Kary English for the win.She also thought The Three-Body Problemwas a page
turner. Steve listened to WilWheaton's reading of Armada and saidit was a
showcase of his talents, but Steve thought the story, by Ernest Cline, was
derivative. Carole saw Minions and got a lot of costuming ideasfrom it. She
thought the Easter egg was fun. There were lots of follow-ons; thegeneral
consensus was it is a fun movie. Brad read The Secret History of Wonder Woman,
byJill Lepore, and highly recommends the book. Ric highly recommends theExpanse
series by James S.A. Corey, particularly 2012 Hugo nominee Leviathan Wakes.
He also saw Ant-Manand enjoyed it. JC followed on that it was terrific and
he'll see it again.Dave C. appreciated that the movie cleaned up Ant-Man's
history.     Ric has also been watching TheStrain and is really enjoying the
series. JC said our meeting roomis sucking and the a/c needs fixing. Beth said
she went to theSan Jose Giants' princess game and our team lost that night, but
she had fun. I saw Spy and enjoyed it. It's worth at leastmatinée. Sam has been
watching Mr. Robot and is really enjoying it, butthere's no robots.   We did
auctions.  Rumor of the Week: "Ursula K. Le Guinsays it's bad for the Pope to
canonize Junípero Serra and I agree."  We adjourned 9:54 p.m.
