Dear BASFA organizers,
My name is Paul Sevilla, and I am a librarian at the Livermore Public Library.
We are celebrating Isaac Asimov's classic "I, Robot" for our Livermore Reads
Together community reading program. I would like to ask if your organization is
interested in partnering with our library for a program honoring Asimov's book.
Throughout the month of February 2016, the library will host a series of events
for children and adults inspired by "I, Robot." The series will be kicked off
by roboticist David Calkins, president of the Robotics Society of America and
founder of the International RoboGames competition (http://robogames.net).
Events include a free screening of the movie Blade Runner at the Vine Cinema &
Alehouse, and Wall-E at Civic Center and Rincon libraries. Pulitzer Prize
award-winning journalist John Markoff is expected to visit the Civic Center
Library to talk about his latest book "Machines of Loving Grace: The Quest for
Common Ground Between Humans and Robots."
I was wondering if BASFA would like to join the festivities and be recognized
as a community partner for Livermore Reads Together. One idea I have is for
your group to facilitate a discussion of "I, Robot" at our library. What do you
think about that? I believe this is a good opportunity to increase your
membership and promote your group to the Livermore community.
