We went out and actually ate at Lyons today.

The food was decent. Good variety and price. They serve breakfast all day, and
use real fudge on their hot fudge sundae (we had ordered something similar to
what we’d do at Coco’s)

Jerry commented that the decor was almost like being at a Disneyland lodge
themed restaurant (complete with moose-heads on the wall.) It does have a full
bar, if you would like to imbibe on a Monday night. They are open until 10pm,
and there is a fully loaded cell tower in back of the restaurant (this is nice
for people using their personal hotspots.)

In regards to us meeting there: Mondays are typically slow, according to one of
the servers. The big negative for people is that the meeting spaces are either
up or down a maximum of 8 steps, and the lower room smells a bit musty (either
the weather or a drain problem). The upstairs is nice, and they can even light
the fireplace if we want!

--------

After our lunch, we stopped by two of the Denny’s in the area that have been
known to have meeting rooms. In both cases the rooms are still there, but have
been remodeled to be smaller.

Here’s the one on El Camino in Santa Clara.

They’ve gone with more booths along the sides (I think 6). Hopefully they could
add more tables in the middle. There is seating off to the right of this room,
that we were told is usually closed on Mondays, so we shouldn’t have
competition on a noise level.

And this is the one on 1st St near the Doubletree.

I would say it’s about 2/3 to 1/2 the size it used to be. It’s nearly the size
of the space we had at Hick’ry Pit (especially in this configuration).

Now you may say “Why Denny’s?” Well, their menu is reasonably priced and
relatively mixed. Plus, they are open 24/7 - which means we shouldn’t have to
worry about wether they’ll let us stay late, or be open on holidays.
