Just like the Hugo Awards, votes below None of the Above/No Award count; it’s saying, “I’d prefer none of these, but if I must pick one, I’d prefer this one.”
I’m surprised they require ranking everything, though. WSFS doesn’t – you can stop voting at any point on the ballot, and you’re considered to have abstained should all of your choices get eliminated. It seems that once they vote "None of the Above," they should be finished. Is there any way to eliminate that? Or does anyone else feel that we should rank all of them regardless? As discussed at the meeting on Monday, 4 April, instead of voting on all the locations at a designated meeting, the Relocation Committee will be presenting the results of an online survey as the recommendation of the Committee. This survey will allow the voice of the entire membership, regardless of their ability to attend the meeting with the actual vote, to be heard. The poll uses the Instant Runoff Voting, what the Hugo Awards used or their ballots (so many of you will be familiar with that). The winner of this poll will be brought before the members at the meeting on 4 May, 2016 as the recommendation of the Committee for ratification. As was recommended at the meeting on Monday, 28 March, the chosen site will be used exclusively for a month (to discover and iron out any issues that may occur.) If we are satisfied, we will make that our new permanent home. The first meeting of that month trial will be on Monday, 16 May. You have heard of the dreaded BASFA voting block, here is the dreaded BASFA voting link: https://www.opavote.com/vote/4756150994075648 The poll is currently open, and will close on Saturday, 30 April. Please vote responsibly... The list of restaurants that we will have been at as of the May 2 meeting are as follows (in order of appearance): * Round Table Pizza, Sunnyvale (12/21, 12/28, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 2/1, 2/15, 2/29) * Omega’s Family Restaurant, Milpitas (1/25, 4/18) * Black Bear Diner, Milpitas (2/8, 3/14, 3/28, 5/2) * Lyon’s, San Jose (2/22, 4/11, 4/25) * Old Spaghetti Factory, San Jose (3/7) * Faz, San Jose (3/21) * Mimi’s Cafe, San Jose (4/4) [note: we would need to move to Tuesdays to be able to do every week] We still need to schedule a location for the May 9 meeting, just so we’re not booking it last minute, so the month long run for the selected restaurant will be May 16 - June 13(which will incorporate the post Memorial Day convention visitors.)
