New Business

DaveG
Has been filling in as Acting Sergeant in Arms. The Sergeant in Arms is not an
officer, and not suspect to the 13-week rule, and the rules do not prohibit
there being two. He therefore nominates Jerry Majors-Patterson. Seconded, and
passed unanimously.
In honor of her appointment, proposes naming Jerry as Pistol Packin’ Mama.
Amended to Laser Pistol Packin’ Mama (the laser is silent). - Which passed.

Reviews

Andrew
Last night watched Instinct (CBS) with Alan Cumming, playing a married gay
psych prof who is ex-CIA agent. Based on James Patterson book. Pilot was shaky,
should have been 2-parts. Looking to see if writers can pull it off. Goldberg
was fun, but irrelevant.
Carole: Cumming’s character can be an insufferable twit. - Gerold concurs
The detective is also insufferable, and the tension is derived from the
clashing.
Gerold: The main character is an author, and he enjoyed the bits about
publishing.

DaveC
On FB a few people saw signs for chili that had a double entendre. Has since
got a 4-pack of skyline chili, and tried it (didn’t notice the shake before
opening note) Lots of water, with ingredients reduced to a pulp. Nothing like
the picture on the can. Smelled awful… Flushed it down the toilet.

Vikas
Andy Weir’s Artemis. Young lady grown up on the moon, finds herself in a
political situation in the colony. Very likable main character, light on the
nitty-gritty. Character driven. Seems written for Hollywood. 4/5 stars
evilKevin: There are way more explosions than The Martian
Consider Phlebas by Iain M Banks. Magnificent space opera. AI controls large
chunk of a galaxy, and the fringe elements. 5/5

Bill
Went to see A Wrinkle in Time - 2D. Stunning visuals. Well realized characters,
and very diverse. Entertaining with nice message. Worth full price.
Carole wants to learn how to do the Leaf Dragon.

Jerry
Curtis Chen now has a short story in Playboy. Go Space Racer - Cute short
story, like Reno Air Races but in space (he is Campbell eligible).

We had an auction.

Meeting adjourned at: 21:22 and the rumor of the week was: Once you have opened
the can, mr. skyline chili is not your friend.
