Called to order at 8 pm with evidence of the 'Dave Conspiracy' 17 people attended we established a party jar The minutes of meeting 1490 were accepted as 'oh, there they are' the Treasurer reported that at meeting 1490 we took in $0.75 in the regular jar & $21.25 in the party jar the VP had nothing fannish to report the President had nothing fannish to report The Sports Committee is collecting money for tickets to the Thursday, March 28 SJ Sharks game BASFA outing - $52.00 per ticket to Dave G; plus the Sports Committee subset reported that he, Ken, is taking [$49.00 for tickets] for the BASFA outing to the SJ Giants Star Wars night on May 4, for the Martinelli's plaza Candy made a motion that next BASFA meeting, which will be 1492 have some sort of celebration of Native American culture & Gerry suggested there be a committee formed for this. Thus, a committee was formed with Gerry & Candy on it ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dave G announced that Fathom Events will be showing Logopolis, Wednesday, March 13 & that he & Spring will be at the 7pm showing at the Cinemark Pacific Commons in Fremont Fred announced that there is a new book coming out in May 2020 by Martha Wells - the 'Murderbot Diaries: Network Effect'; for more info check = https://www.tor.com/2019/03/11/announcing-the-title-of-martha-wells-murderbot-diaries-novel/ Lisa announced that Consonance will be coming up, 2 weekends from now at the Milpitas Crowne Plaza Hotel Gayle asked if anyone knew about an upcoming Disneyland anniversary event REVIEWS: Mark reviewed 'Spinning Silver' by Naomi Novik, a new retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin folk tale & that it is eligible for the Hugo - interestingly written & recommended & he reviewed Farah Mendelsohn's book - 'The Pleasant Profession of Robert A Heinlein' as well-written & well-sourced Andy reviewed the Eurovision finals season as that some of the finalists are definitely different & do sound interesting & also reviewed Ducktales, specifically season 2, episode 7 - 'Whatever Happened to Della Duck' was written by people obsessed with Duckberg, Disney stuff & obscure references [like 'Nausicaa'] & was completely enjoyed; then [evil] Kevin followed, saying that the musical score for the episode enhance it tremendously & he recommends it Lisa reviewed Influenza A as the worst ever and not covered in this year's vaccine, reviewed Gallifrey One as fun, except for getting the flu there & reviewed 'Captain Marvel' as great fun and a good movie Ken also reviewed 'Captain Marvel' as '2 thumbs up' - there were also comments that the cat was the best part Gayle reviewed Pretty Yende at Opera at the Met as a phenomenal vocalist who has an amazing range Vinetta reviewed 'Green Book' as an excellent movie & recommended We did an auction we adjourned at 8:54 Rumor of the week was 'This is madness - No!
