Announcements
Gerald
Stanford Women’s Basketball v. Universtiy of Oregon tonight. If Stanford wins,
it would be a major upset.
Gayle
Betelgeuse is dimming. She’s disappointed.
Gerald: Used to be one of the brightest, now about a bright as the stars in
Orion’s belt. Might be a cloud obscuring the bottom.
Ken
NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson has passed at 101
Dark Shadows composer Robert Cobert at 95, and John “Willie Loomis” Karlen a
couple weeks ago.
Reviews
Andy
3rd season of TBareGo! just wrapped. Watch on Amazon.
DW: Happy with the past six episodes. Season ender this Sunday.
Gallifrey One was last weekend. Best time ever, don’t want to repeat it ever
again.
JohnO: Flew down Friday night (missed lobby con and Friday daytime). Eccleston
was intense.
Lisa: Came in on Wednesday. Lobby con was fun, got lots of ribbons. Saturday
was line from hell day. Was in line for Eccleston from 11:30 to 4 (and was able
to get in.) He had ribbons to trade. Kind and gave time to each fan.
DaveC: Why didn’t he bring more Eccleston autobiography? Well, it’s an import...
DaveG: A good con. Highlight was the Girl Scout troop’s Dalek - built out of
cookie boxes. After the con he and Spring went to Vasquez Rocks.
Lisa
Last weekend went to Stitches West (knitting con, with a lot of fans). Sought
fannish stitchmarkers. Enjoyable for the fiber arts.
Bill: They were there. Took three classes at ungodly hours. Very educational,
from quite good to exceptional. Way too easy to buy too much yarn.
Carole: Enjoys all the colors and patterns available.
Bill
Weekend before he and Carole went to the last PantheaCon. Greatly varied. Well
equipped dealers room. Participated in a few things. There may be a replacement
con next year.
Carole: Concerns about the new group, but there are experienced people on board
- but is there enough. More info to come as to whose involved on their website
(behind the veil?)
Aetheus
Audiobooks: Interview with the Robot by Lee Bacon - excellent voice acting.
Highly recommend (free?) Not terribly long. Half way through The Children of
Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Far future dystopia. A bit Asimovian… So far
recommend.
JohnO
After Gally went to Disneyland for Galaxy’s Edge. Immersive experience. Cast
never refer to Disneyland. Need to plan to enjoy this space. Got up way too
early (6:30 a.m.) at park at 7 to get a pass to Rise of the Resistance. You
have to be within the park to get the pass and they sell out in a minute. Had
fast passes and reservations to do light sabers, lunch and droid building.
Smugglers run is fun. Rise broke down mid-ride. Got a Super Pass to ride again.
Fun immersive ride. Disney did a great job of hiding the how. Not for small
children. Glorious at night! Not a land to do in one day. Star Tours was also
updated. Well worth it, should have done two days. Full price.
Auction
Meeting was adjourned at 21:38 honoring the memory Katherine Johnson, and the
rumor was: Soon there will be a society for the prevention of cruelty to
virtual animals.
