Ah yes, I had forgotten about that approach - I used practically that one some 4 years ago in Fedora but later reverted to the slightly clumsier approach currently employed in order to make the package buildable with older rpm versions in RHEL with which I couldn't get %bashcomp_trigger macro definition to work.
