I have same problem on my desktop. It is very annoying to wait until resolve timeouts and than get error.
I just figured out from ubuntu bug #494327 that it is avahi related and with bad experiences with ipv6 changes in debian (failed java connections i.e.) I just tried to turn ipv6 support off in avahi and it helps. This bug maybe should be moved to avahi? Temporary fix: Edit /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf, change use-ipv6 to no and restart avahi with /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon restart -- .''`.
