Hi, there seems to be a bug in Service.java. The getClassLoader() call might return null and there is no check on that. The same problem occured in the past (http://koala.ilog.fr/batik/mlists/batik-dev/archives/msg01276.html). The fix presented there (which works) is not part of the distribution I dowloaded from http://xml.apache.org/batik/dist/ (src-1.5beta5).
