Despite its name, it is reasonably stable. Since it has been a while since the previous release, the plan is to make a full 1.7 release in the not too distant future. Note that all the builds that were offered earlier are still available in the Apache archives. I am looking at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=189139 for Eclipse GMF and would like to see an full release of Batik 1.7.
