Has anyone tried running batik against the 1.4 jre without an X
server running? In other words, does using the 1.4 jre/jdk mean I'm no
longer required to run an X server in order to use batik?

        Regards,

Ditto - I noticed no difference. The only problems I've had with 1.4 so
far was with an installer that didn't realise that 1.4 > 1.2, and
Netbeans wasn't happy (so I've got 1.3 jars installed as well).

Batik itself seems to be fast, but java2d is not. I have

I missed them too - could you please repost.

Cheers,
Danny.
