Hi, I have a few questions on the upcoming support for SMIL animation.
1. What is the current timeframe for supporting SMIL? The "roadmap" section of the Batik web pages mentions Late 2002 for supporting SMIL animation fully, but I haven't heard much talk about it lately (at least not on the "users" list.) 2. Will the implementation be from scratch, or will it borrow from existing work such as X-Smiles or Schmunzel? 3. What kind of API will be exposed for the SMIL engine? Will there be hooks for supporting other media such as streamed audio? Will it be feasible to synchronize streamed audio with SVG SMIL animations? I don't think adding a SMIL engine will be a trivial undertaking, so I'm curious where batik is headed.
