Well the tiff file would probably be more useful. Did you try
the 'test' file in Batik?
'xml-batik/samples/tests/spec/structure/tiff.svg'
Does that work for you? As far as compression types it should
support uncompressed, Deflate, PackBits, and JPEG (new style).
