Sorry, I only install the jre under Windows not under Linux. But I know the new 
version of jre under linux is has the same functionality like Windows (not mentioned 
Mac ;-) ).

I'm have 1.4.02 installed and web start isn't setup for me.  I guess the linux 
installer just dosen't set it up.
