You need to use the TiledImageTranscoder from the contrib area. This transcoder doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the other transcoders but it will rasterize the above document easily in the default 64MB Java partition - and it probably won't take an hour to do it (depends on content of course).

Yes, but I don't recall how.

The above uses uncompressed Tiff output - so you need to be a little careful you don't exceed the 2GB limit of tiff.
Shut down all applications
Set -ms256m -mx384m to large value this works for MacOSX.2 with 768MB RAM
# java -ms256m -mx384m -jar batik-rasterizer.jar -d samples/peepo -w 7200 -h 5400 -m image/jpeg samples/peepo/peepo-batik-boots.svg
cross fingers and wait about 1 hour, with luck 1.5MB file is delivered
else OutOfMemoryError
