I had a look at this, and it's certainly nice and quick. Like you, I had issues with fonts (in this case, they were translated, instead of rotated). It also had similar viewing properties as the IText process (ie. very slow rendering in Acrobat ... I think because it lacks structure, and is truly a linear stream of primitive graphics2D operations).
