I have no idea. Are you sure it's hitting the SVG file and not something else? You might want to talk with Massimo:

This couses that my server sometimes hangs (or it’s not responding), and my applet also. After that I have to restart browser.
I'm curious what is causing this issue, but I'm not setup to test/deploy applets so I don't think I can help much.
