Never mind! I was able to 'grab' this image from the existing FOP web site, so I no longer need help converting link.svg to link.pdf.
Sorry, I lost your earlier message. I just ran this with the CVS version of Batik and it converted to PDF without a problem (and the PDF will open). I wouldn't surprise me if the problem is that the links are 'viewBox' links which give a location to 'zoom' to.
