A new SVG Editor using batik is now available. It has an LGPL license.
It is available for download (runtime or source) at http://glipssvgeditor.sourceforge.net/

Cool. If you would like to submit a patch for the xdocs/index.xml to reference your project that would be great.

ITRIS (http://www.itris.fr) a small french company had developped for
one of its products an SVG Editor based on the top class Batik toolkit.
(thanks to the batik team for their great job).

I was playing with it but I couldn't figure out how to create a curved cubic curve (I could select the cubic tool but I couldn't "drag out" the control points).

This editor (using a proprietary plugin implementing an additionnal
namespace) is used to edit graphics that are animated by real time data
and user actions.
It's part of a SCADA/HMI application connected to Programmable Logic
Controllers in industrial processes. A run-time application, (also based
on batik) displays the animated SVG.
