You are probably using JDK 1.5 to compile. If you want to use
JDK 1.5 to compile you need to use 'jdk 1.4 compatibility mode'.
Otherwise the switch to DOM 3 will cause the compile to fail.
I just upped my SVG file so you can have a look at it if you like.

I didn't look at it but am fairly confident that this will work just
fine with the current CVS Batik.
