Attached is a test image which embeds two PNGs, each containing a 50x50 red square centered on a 100x100 transparent field. The image on the left is an 8-bit ARGB PNG, while the image on the right is a 1-bit indexed PNG with a tRNS chunk. This loads correctly in Squiggle in Batik 1.7, but the right square fails to load in the batik-svn-13-09-01 nightly build.
(I have the same problem with an 8-bit indexed PNG with a tRNS chunk specifying a single transparent color, which makes me think this is a general problem afflicting indexed transparent PNGs.) What's changed since 1.7 to cause this regression?
