I stumbled about this question via a Google search . . .

I do work on the Ptolemy project. We shipped Ptolemy II 7.0.1 last
week.
There are two versions of Ptolemy. Ptolemy Classic is what was used
as
a basis for the Agilent product. We at UC Berkeley are no longer
developing
Ptolemy Classic.

We are actively developing Ptolemy II though. Ptolemy primarily uses
actors
to describe systems. Ptolemy II is written in Java, has a BSD license
and
is used to experiment with Models of Computation (MoCs). We are
especially interested in concurrency and using hierarchy to compose
different
models of computation.

Someone asked about multicore development. Ptolemy II does have code
generation capabilities where we generate C code. We are working on
functionality for multicores, but we are a ways away from that right
now.
We are involved in the Intel/Microsoft Parlab at UC Berkeley.

Someone mention bio, Ptolemy II is used as the basis of the Kepler
Project (http://www.kepler-project.org), which is targeted towards
biologists
and ecologists.

Currently one area in which we are active involves distributed
applications.
The PTIDES project (http://chess.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptides) focuses on
deploying applications on distributed networks that have well
understood timing
characteristics.
