Emacs version: GNU Emacs 19.27.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.3, X toolkit)
BBDB version 1.50; 18-feb-94.
There must be something magic that is required to get mail aliases to work with
BBDB, or I am doing something very stupid.
I have set up mail-alias fields in my BBDB. I have the following in my .emacs
(add-hook 'mail-setup-hook 'mail-aliases-setup)
(add-hook 'mail-setup-hook 'mail-abbrevs-setup)
(add-hook 'mail-setup-hook 'bbdb-define-all-aliases)
although I'm not sure I need all of those.
I'm also not sure which mailabbrevs file should be loaded: mail-abbrevs comes
with BBDB, while mailabbrev comes with emacs 19.27.
I've tried a few combinations, but I can't get alias expansion to work;
ordinary expansion of names from the BBDB works fine. BTW: I notice that any
mail-aliases I put in my BBDB make to the variable mail-abbrevs, but they don't
appear to be useful as abbreviations; nor is anything else in that variable for
that matter!
Thanks for any help
