A similar thing was happening to me; except that I would periodically
get random placement in the vm summary window. Since I use "follow
cursor" behavior in vm, this was bad. I was saving 'last-subject'
on all my mail using bbdb-auto-notes-alist.
Since I turned that off, it hasn't happened.
