Seems to me that "robust" and just ignoring trashed records are exact
opposites.  If something in the .bbdb file is trashed, there's a time bomb
waiting to go off.  The sooner you know, the better.

I've never seen a record in the .bbdb file get trashed; I have occasionally
seen .bbdb files where the records had gotten misordered, but I've never seen
a reproducible test case.  Most (but not all) of the times this has happened,
it has been because the .bbdb file was edited by hand, or by code that I
didn't write that made incorrect assumptions about the ordering requirements.
