Selectively removing parts of my .vm file reveal that the problem only occurs when I have a %UB in my vm-summary-format, and vm-summary-function-B is the one defined in bbdb-vm. This function tries to find the full name of the sender in your bbdb database. Putting a (save-excursion) around the body of vm-summary-function-B had no effect. Bng
