Normally I have bbdb come up with elided records and without
the *BBDB* buffer popping up. However, today I did an
enormous reorganization of my saved email, and now I want to
be able to check some things, so I switched back so that I
always see the bbdb record.

However, I guess I don't understand something about
bbdb-elided-display. The doc string says:

... Set this to a list of some
of the symbols '(address phone net notes) to select those fields to be left
out of the listing (you can't leave out the name field).

So I have put this in my startup:

(setq bbdb-elided-display '(AKA address phone))

However, I still get all fields displaying. Is there
something fundamental I am failing to understand? (Likely.)
