Hi folks,

I've commited a bunch of stuff to CVS that's been sitting around here
for a bit. Some of it is in the autoconf setup; the default behaviour
is now changed as follows:

For people who don't like to read any documentation,

 ./configure && make

will behave in an almost-sane fashion. It will build BBDB with Gnus
and RMAIL support. This is based on the fact that both these items are
shipped by default[1]. This, of course, assumes you're using the stock
Gnus distro.

For people who like to guess at what to do next, or at least read
./configure --help:

 ./configure --enable-mhe/rmail/gnus/vm

will have obvious consequences for the default make targets.

Better still:

 ./configure --with-vm-dir=whatever

will automatically switch on VM support. --with-mhe-dir will do
likewise for MH-E. As will --with-gnus-dir for Gnus, although you
won't notice because it's enabled by default. --with-other-dir behaves
exactly as before.

Other changes include doco fixes and some recently posted patches that
I'd neglected to commit. Also, the Makefiles now notice if configure
or Makefile.in are newer and complain loudly. Hopefully this doesn't
bite any of the non-CVS people, although it should just be a matter of
rerunning configure if it does.

I have a few more bugs I'd like to fix (such as the bbdb-notice one
mentioned by Sam Steingold, and the elusive mh-e (or Rmail?) caching
bug), and then I'm really truly honestly releasing the damn thing,
because I've got a reorg in mind that I want to start working on. So,
if you've got patches lying around that you haven't yet sent me, now
would be a good time to do so.

Cheers,
Waider. Waiting for the commit to complete, thankyou sourceforge.net

[1] Since VM is bundled with XEmacs, I should probably apply similar
logic - if $EMACS_PROG=xemacs or whatever. FITNR.
