Hi folks,
I've applied Dave Love's revised coding-system patch, and tested it
(slightly) against:
GNU Emacs 21.2.1
XEmacs 21.4 (patch 6)
Since it's not actually caught fire or anything, I'm going to commit
these changes so y'all can find the bugs.
