The one I found at an MIT server says:

(defconst bbdb-version "1.43; 7-mar-92.")

My purpose is idle and lazy curiosity.  I'm writing a program that
will require a database of some sort (an update of
http://members.wri.com/billw/cal-catholic), and I thought I might look
into the database-of-vectors idea behind bbdb, among other things.
After looking around the code a while (here comes the lazy part, aided
by four small children conspiring to limit my attention span) I
thought things might be more straightforward in some venerable and
ancient version of bbdb.
