d runs the command bbdb-delete-current-field-or-record
Delete the line which the cursor is on; actually, delete the field which
that line represents from the database. If the cursor is on the first line
of a database entry (the name/company line) then the entire entry will be
  deleted.

As the cursor hugs the left side of the screen, instead of say the
colon, it is very easy to mis-estimate what line one is on.

And the ominous statement above about entire entries...

Well one day one will delete more than intended.

And just how much one deleted one cannot tell, as it is already gone.

Whereupon one finds there is no Undo. Yes there's bbdb-yank, but it
won't help here.

So one must recover from disk before hitting save.

But that means throwing away all other changes before the mistake.

So some sort of undo, or gnus-like
  C-k runs the command gnus-group-kill-group
  Kill the next N groups.
The killed newsgroups can be yanked by using C-y.
is needed.
