Wow, okay. That would explain why. Thanks for the reply!

I might file that as a bug report, because the description of the
variable is as follows: 

   The format for the timestamp to be used in the creation-date and Hide Re   
   timestamp fields.  See the documentation for `format-time-string'.

Is BBDB still being actively developed? I've seen activity on the
mailing list, but not too much with CVS.
