C-o runs the command bbdb-insert-new-field, which is an interactive compiled Lisp function in `bbdb-com.el'.
OK, I use it to make a new "notes" field, and it prompts me for its contents. Then only afterward does it figure out: bbdb-insert-new-field: there already are notes!
