I want to use BBEditt to edit httpd.conf. I can use Open Hidden to open the file, and Save with Authentication to save it. But, I really want to keep a "sandbox" copy to make my changes in and then, when I'm finished, save it over the real file. But the sandbox copy is in an unhidden directory, and the Save As dialog doesn't let me save it in a hidden directory (etc/httpd). How do people handle this - saving a new file to a hidden directory?

Save As will navigate to a hidden directory if you "Go To" that directory. In the Save As dialog, just hit cmd-shift-G. You'll get a Go To Folder dialog; just enter the full path to the directory you want (/etc/httpd).
